It is often said, “Dance like no one is watching!” In its true sentiment dancing is a personal expression, emotions being channelized as a physical movement with help of beat. Dancing is an art and, the technique of exploring yourself through your body.

India is a treasure mine for different forms of dance. Every place has this expression of passion imbibed within it quite well. We have many forms of, what could be termed as classical dance, in different region.’ Kathak’ is one such form, trickled down through centuries of performances and, efforts of countless dancers, Gurus and, disciples.Unfortunately, ‘Kathak’ is seen as a stepping stone to other dances or, often believed to be ‘Nauch’ (a Mughal dance style). In its total beauty, ‘Kathak’ is a dedicated devotional art form which channelizes our energy into creative hard work.

‘Laheja’ school of performing arts is a tribute to this rich traditions and, great masters who carried this beautiful tradition in its purest form. It’s not a dance school but a continuation of an artistic expression which has enriched us. At ‘Laheja’ we aim at spreading ‘Kathak’ across the globe and, introduce the younger generation to much creative form of expression.

Needless to say, ‘Laheja’ offers a wholesome technique of dance and, performance through its interactive methods of learning. We believe in discovering true capabilities and, form of this dance style. ‘Laheja’ is born out of blessings and, teachings of great Gurus like, Guru Rohinitai Bhate and, Guru Roshantai Datye. Their work stands as a monument in front of us, under whose shadow, we believe in realising our goals.

Another speciality of our work is, we wish to pass on the great tradition started from ‘Natyashastra’ through ‘Kathak’, under our Guru Roshantai’s guidance, in our teachings.
