Groomed under the able guidance of Guru Smt. Roshan Datye and blessed by Late Dr. Rohini Bhate; Abha Auti as a Kathak dancer has been working in the field of Kathak for more than two decades now. She has graduated from “Nrityabharti Kathak Dance Academy” and completed Masters at Bharati Vidyapeeth University with a gold medal. Abha has received the prestigious Sawaai Gandharwa Scholarship and Senior National Scholarship of Government of India. She has recently been awarded Pandita Rohini Bhate Smriti Award and Sundri Samrat Award. She has been fortunate to be selected as an A-Grade Doordarshan artist and an ICCR empanelled artist.
Abha has performed extensively in various celebrated dance festivals in India such as Swarna Nritya Pratibha Festival, Kathak Mahotsava Lucknow Kathak Kendra ,Jawaharlal Nehru Festival Of Dance And Music by JNMDA , Pt. Lacchu Maharajaji Kathak Mahotsava , Kalaka-binda Ballet Festival , Uday Shankar Ballet Festival , Shaniwar Wada Nritya Mohotsava and Aura Aurangabad Festival.
She has taken ‘Kathak’ beyond boundaries in countries like United States, Canada, Austria, Switzerland and Germany among others. Recently, her performances in Europe have received great praise from artists, diplomats and, audience alike.
Abha is an artistic director of Laheja School of Performing Arts, Pune and a creative choreographer who is working towards imparting the great tradition of Kathak through her school in Pune. Her unique quality to identify the key issue in today’s world and, explore it through the medium of Kathak is what separates her from the usual performers.
